In 1962 Joni Mitchell was a young musician / Ukulele player who played gigs or feature songs at Waskesiu and on campus at the U of S."Nineteen-year-old Joni Anderson was booked as a one-time replacement for a late-night moose-hunting show. During the program Joni was interviewed and performed several songs accompanying herself on baritone ukulele. "Around 1964 she left Saskatoon, never to live here again.
Joni Mitchell went on to be very successful. My favorite thing is that she wrote "This Flight Tonight" which allowed Nazareth to make a very cool version of the tune. Other than that I don't know anything else about her.
However it seems that some at city council here in Saskatoon are still very much infactuated with this woman and continue to "push" to have buildings and streets and parades and the odd bingo hall named after her as I guess they think she actually did SOMETHING for this city. I guess if you call Leaving doing something for this city then we ought to name every street here in town after some one who left for Alberta over the last ten years too, except we would run out of streets!

Some body please tell me what the deal is!! I mean for a person to grow up and get a life over 44years ago only to have a desperate city yearn to create a monument to you for leaving??? What is going on??? I mean she already has a meat packing plant in her name....What else does this city want or need that is named Mitchell? Last, has any one even asked her if she supports this drive?
It should be noted that she moved here at the age of nine and was gone by nineteen. Maybe her home over the last 44 years has something cooking up for her, cause I don't think after this absence she can really call Saskatoon home. As far as the sappy city council of Saskatoon goes, I say honor hero's who have lived, worked and died here. Those who built this city and continue to contribute and those among us who burden the pressures of bad civic government and high taxes.

I do have a "girl" kind of love story regarding Joni Mitchell. Here is a picture of my buddy Mike. Mike was an adventurous kind of guy and hitchhiked across Scotland to catch a Joni concert. He bought an album that had a painting of the Bessbourough Hotel, and that was a pivotal point in his life. He was determined to go to Saskatoon, become a musician and to see that hotel hoping that Joni would be hanging around. (She was pretty hot in the day...) Well he waited soooo long for her to show up he eventually just stayed here.So much for his Soccer Career...

ok, let me straighten out a few things here:
1) Joni Mitchell is still HOT...well still smokin anyway
2) Nazareth! Who are they, some kind of Scottish christian orchestra?..and speaking of Dunfermline, the other "great' Scottish band to hail from that jewel of Caledonia was Big Country (you know, the guys who made the guitar sound like the bagpipes). Turns out, none of those guys came from there. Hope they've got a statue or something.
3) Who says my soccer career is over?

Yea...sorry I didn't respond sooner but that just goes to show you nobody cares about Joni Mitchell. I would actually watch a video of her performing if it was a porn....maybe one of those older women - pizza boy things.
